David R. Gandara, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer (CMO) of the International Society for liquid biopsy (ISLB), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the field of liquid biopsy in cancer diagnosis and management. In addition to being a previous IASLC President (2009-2011), Treasurer (2017), and World Conference President (2009), Dr. Gandara is professor emeritus in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Director of Thoracic Oncology, and Senior Advisor to the Director, University of California Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he previously served as Associate Director for Clinical Research and principal investigator for the NCI Phase II Early Therapeutics award for the California Cancer Consortium. Most recently Dr. Gandara was the lead author of the IASLC Updated Consensus Report on Liquid Biopsies, published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
