Heather A. Wakelee, MD, has been promoted to Chief of the Division of Oncology at Stanford University. She has also assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Stanford Cancer Institute. Dr. Wakelee has been with Stanford University since 1996 when she began as an internal medicine resident, before becoming chief resident, oncology fellow and then joining the oncology division as faculty in 2003. She rose in the ranks to Professor in 2017. She has served for many years as the faculty director of the Stanford Cancer Clinical Trials office. She is the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials and lead investigator for the ECOG-ACRIN clinical trials group at Stanford.
Dr. Wakelee is the IASLC President-Elect.
