Dear Readers,
It is my honor and privilege to be IASLC’s new CEO.
The mission of IASLC to conquer thoracic malignancies worldwide has always been at the heart of what I’ve done in my career. As CEO, I’ll work to ensure the association stays true to that mission, and I am excited to be leading a team equally dedicated.
Leveraging IASLC’s unique global reach will be key to conquering thoracic malignancies worldwide. Our global reach is our strength—our secret weapon—and we need a worldwide organization and commitment if we are to cure lung cancer.
Fortunately, we have amazing innovations that make global collaboration easier than ever. One of my goals for our organization is to continue to grow our membership across the globe and across the disciplines in our specialty.
To do that, we need to ensure we’re providing members with the resources they need to provide the best patient care and research. That’s why we will be sending a survey to members soon. Let us know how IASLC can help you so we can ensure every patient is receiving the best possible care.
In turn, we will also be working to increase research funding, collaborative partnerships, and treatment access in underserved areas. At the end of the day, all these efforts come back to the patient and providing the best possible care.
Another key to our mission is education. Learning is lifelong. From our early career colleagues to our senior colleagues, the IASLC team wants to make sure we’re engaging members and ensuring they have the tools they need. If we identify gaps in our educational offerings, we will address them.
Once again, I’m excited to be leading the dedicated team at this wonderful organization. We’re here to help make a cure a reality by supporting the lung cancer community, so reach out anytime we can be of service.
Sincerely,
Karen Kelly, MD
CEO, IASLC
