Each year, IASLC seeks early-career physicians to participate in the IASLC Academy, a professional development program taught by prominent leaders in the field of thoracic oncology. This year, the 2023 IASLC Academy class has had a unique opportunity to serve as the inaugural Amazing Case Race cohort. The Amazing Case Race is a new event designed to give Academy members experience while bringing some friendly competition to the World Conference on Lung Cancer.
During the past 9 months, each member of the 2023 Academy has worked with a mentor to produce a case summary based on real-life patients. Members connected with mentors monthly to discuss the project and other professional development topics. Participants used the testing and treatment options available in their countries as well as the protocols for their respective institutions.
During WCLC, attendees will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite, most remarkable case summaries. Following the meeting, the five cases with the most votes will be included in the IASLC’s first case-based simulation course.
