As a global organization, the IASLC aims to be equitable and to support and welcome members from all backgrounds. The association’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) supports its vision for a diverse international community working together to eliminate thoracic malignancies in the 21st century.
As part of the IASLC’s 2024 DEI Initiative, the association is gathering member insights through an online survey and a series of virtual focus groups designed to help the organization better understand the challenges and areas for opportunity facing the global thoracic oncology profession. Data collected will inform the direction of the IASLC’s ongoing DEI efforts. The IASLC invites all members to participate in the survey, which is estimated to take less than 10 minutes and is open through May 10, 2024.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the IASLC
IASLC members are invited to participate in a brief survey to help the association better understand the current landscape surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion within its global membership. The survey should take less than 10 minutes and is open until May 10, 2024. It is available in English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Chinese.
About the IASLC DEI Initiative
As the IASLC continues to grow, leadership has made a conscious effort to be an equitable organization that supports and welcomes members from all backgrounds. In 2021, the IASLC Board of Directors formalized the association’s commitment to DEI by changing the bylaws to include the following as an organizational priority: To define new and meaningful strategies to remove barriers, including those resulting from systemic disparities that impact (i) access to research and funding for those engaged in any research on lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies and (ii) access to care for and information about lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies for patients and their families.
